In the back of the first FMA artbook, Arakawa did a spread of all the women who’d been in the manga up to that point (this was before May, Lan Fan, Olivier etc). Pretty cute!
I always thought the Dog to be male, but suppose that this spread means it’s really a girl dog!

I always wonder how Den lost her leg…did they find her like that? No wait, I think there’s a picture of her as a puppy with all her legs. Oh man, did she lose it when Resembool was bombed during the Ishvalan conflict?
i’m pretty sure den saved ed from getting hit by a train? which is why she’s kind of ed’s watchdog?
I don’t recall seeing that during the manga. Is it mentioned in an interview or something? the wiki says it’s unknown. though now I know Mr. Garfiel’s first name is Atelier. I also learned google incorrectly thinks Den’s a boy too.
I’ve heard that too! I’m pretty sure it’s from one of the guidebooks (which for some reason still haven’t been released in english…) I’ve only ever found one picture to back it up though, and it looks pretty official to me:
